Could You Briefly Explain What ConvertFlow is and Describe Your Role There?
ConvertFlow is a funnel builder for eCommerce marketers and stores. It allows you to build things like pop-ups, landing page funnels, and quizzes to help drive more conversions and revenue for your eCommerce store.
I’m the demand generation manager at ConvertFlow, with a background in content marketing. I came in as the first marketing hire on the company, and have since grown into an overall demand gen manager over the last 3 years.
Why is Video Content Important for ConvertFlow?
We know that video is a much more engaging medium for most people. We had been talking internally that we need to get on the video train, with a focus on both long-form and short-form content. Over the last 6 months, we have been creating and experimenting with it.
Historically, we’ve not really been built around video, but we see the value in it and want to continue doing more of it.
What Were Your Biggest Video Creation Challenges?
Prior to using VEED, our biggest video creation challenges included:
- Repurposing Longer Videos into Shorter Content: Understanding how to take something that’s long and chopping it up into as much of a consumable thing as possible has been tricky.
- Making Videos Look Good: Knowing how to not just chop videos up, but actually edit them by applying things like engaging overlays, text, elements, etc. It’s not easy to make something that actually looks good, engaging, and consumable from a viewer’s perspective.
- Having Time to Edit: SEO has been our main driver of growth. I wasn’t getting enough time to focus on that because it was just taking so long for me to edit our videos.
Before using VEED, I’d often think that it would be easy to create a video that’s only a few minutes long on a very focused topic. But it proved to be quite difficult in the past to go from concept to finished 2-minute video that looks presentable.
How Did VEED Help You Overcome Those Challenges?
VEED helped in three ways:
- Product Education: Everything is very straightforward. If I need to figure out how to do something on VEED, I know if I just go on your YouTube channel or even just head into the help-desk, I will find a tutorial that’s very easy to follow.
- Intuitiveness of the Platform: Once you actually get into the product, you’ll immediately realize how intuitive it is. Things like editing the timeline, chopping things down, being able to split the videos, modifying the sounds, and adding subtitles are all extremely easy to do. All of these features, if used sparingly and correctly, can take your content from looking like a plain video to something that has been professionally edited.
- Granular Editing: We use Riverside.fm for recording customer story calls and mockup podcast episodes with our CEO. While it’s good for recording, it doesn’t offer much in terms of editing. If you have a long recording and want to get a 15-second snippet out of it for social, it’s difficult to zoom in and get that. But VEED allows us to go really granular and get to exactly the point that we need.

What Do You Use VEED for?
Creating Retargeting Video Ads for Social
Currently, we run retargeting ads on LinkedIn and a little bit on Facebook. I create these using VEED. Thinking back to previous software, it would take me hours trying to edit these ads, and I would often just end up giving up on some projects. Whereas now with VEED, I can turn raw footage into a video ad in probably less than an hour.
It’s really easy to set a template for what we want to achieve. That way, we can just take something out and put something else in/tweak stuff without starting from scratch each time. VEED has saved me a ton of time in terms of quickly creating new video ads. Once we’ve got that template set up, it’s so easy to rip out that video, layer another one, change the text, and do a bunch of other stuff.

The aim of our retargeting ads isn’t to make people click, but just to get in front of them. Considering that, we are very pleased with the results.
Making Point-of-View Clips for Social
We have a mockup podcast where our CEO and I talk about different industry-relevant topics. Each conversation lasts anywhere from 30-45 minutes. We then take that recording, plug it into VEED, and chop it up into different snippets which we then share on social media.
What are Your Favorite VEED Features?
My favorite VEED features include:
- Trimming, Splitting, and Cropping: These features make it really easy to chop up videos into smaller snippets.
- Subtitles: I love the subtitle feature as we’re able to add them very quickly with just one click. By and large, the only editing I had to do on subtitles is having to properly capitalize our brand name, but 99% of the subtitles are accurate, which is great to see. I’ve used some other tools before where they claim they have a subtitles feature, but I had to manually edit 50% of my videos because it was complete gibberish.
- Elements: Library of elements like GIFs, stickers, and the ready-to-go logos like Shopify’s, as they are a big integration partner of ours. Not having to manually download and upload them is a huge timesaver.
- Brand Kit: This allows us to keep our brand assets in one easy-to-access place. We don’t have to constantly upload them.
- Workspace: The organization of our videos in different folders is great, which makes it easier to find them.
- Video Resizing: It’s very easy to convert a landscape video into a really nice-looking square video.
Apart from that, just being able to conveniently edit your video right on the canvas by dragging and dropping things around is just very easy and convenient.

I highly recommend VEED to all peers!
